Crabtree Farm began the fascination with the larger shetland type miniature ponies in 2001.  With the purchase of Sweetwater's Cash Deal.  Attending the first AMHR Nationals in 2003 and winning a National Championship, we began to focus on the shetland type miniatures.

In 2007 the decision was made to sell all miniatures except our prized buckskin stallion.  And in 2008 the first true bred shetland was purchased from Edd Perdue, Bailey, NC.

Jubilations Toodles, aka "Toodles" or more commonly known as "Sercy", was brought home to Crabtree Farm.  The fascination with the shetland breed captivated me.  Under the direction of Edd Perdue, I learned more about the old bloodlines and he continues to teach me so much.

"Sercy" is the daugher of Jubilation FMF (owned by Dr. Ken Wahl) and grand daughter of Double Stuf (HOF) (owned by Stepping Stone Shetlands). Great-grand daughter of Georgetown Tom Cat.   This line was incredible.  And I wanted more.  There was something more about this line of shetland than I had ever seen before. Her breeding went back to to include Michigans and the Cody bloodlines, many that can be traced to many of our modern day champions.

Edd Perdue then began to talk to me about obtaining another shetland - Half Pint's Brandy (half sister to Sercy), the daughter of Hot To Trot Farms Half Pint (dam to Sercy) and Centerfold's Final Chapter (Hackney). An older mare who I would be able to teach me a lot.

As fate would have it, another party was interested in the same mare and she was not destined to be mine.  So my search for more shetlands continued.  As I was perusing the sales pages I was drawn to an ad for a shetland stallion - the son of Double Stuf.  Upon contacting Edd for advice, he simply said "Send a check".  He comforted me about saying I could not go wrong.  So now I was to buy a shetland sight unseen.  I did overnight that check and the story continues with Wilk Double O Seven.

But as fate would have it, when I traveled to NC to pick up Wilk Double O Seven, I arrived at the farm that had purchased several of Edd Perdue's shetlands including "Brandy".  And as I was waiting for my stallion to be delivered, I shook hands and made the deal to bring home two shetlands. Not long after that the trailer delivering Wilk Double O Seven arrived and I loaded my two new shetlands to make the way home to Crabtree Farm.
